ABOUT ME

Emma has been transforming her passion for arts and entertainment into audience-centric storytelling within the digital space since 2005.

She currently splits her time between digital marketing projects and editorial entertainment coverage.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM MY CAREER (SO FAR)

My work as a digital strategist on the award-winning Canadian documentary Plastic People was part of a 2025 Anthem Award-winning and 2026 Social Impact Media Award-nominated Impact Campaign. The 18-month campaign saw us gain 13.5k followers on our social channels and over 4.4m video views on our digital content.

I am also the Managing Editor of That Shelf, a Canadian entertainment outlet, and a Rotten Tomatoes-approved critic. I am also a member of the Alliance of Women Film Journalists.

My editorial work has ranged from A-list interviews (Benedict Cumberbatch, Emma Thompson, Jon Stewart, Anthony MackieAnya Taylor-Joy and more), to breaking news, to top ten lists, to television episode recaps to scripted original series for web and radio.

I spent the majority of my career developing, executing and managing content marketing, editorial, video, staff, and SEO strategy as well as the resulting day-to-day digital media production. As an example, in my former role as a Senior Producer at Cineplex Entertainment, I increased our content page views (and resulting revenue) by 5900% over 4 years.

I have extensive experience as a lead/coordinating producer on major annual entertainment events from the Toronto International Film Festival and Hot Docs to Cannes and Sundance, and from the Oscars to Comic-Con.

I have spearheaded national digital arts and entertainment content campaigns, such as Canada 150 (with the Toronto Symphony), INC-4, 5, and 6 (with Plastic People), So You Think You Can Dance Canada (with CTV), and many others.

I’ve pursued my passion and parlayed it into a 21-year career as a film journalist, content marketer, and digital producer. I consistently plan, create, edit, and manage compelling and engaging web, social, video, podcasting, and print content.

I have been a film festival programmer and member of the Rendezvous With Madness Festival team since 2022. My time there has allowed me to moderate engaging post-film panels with filmmakers and community leaders. I have also had the pleasure of serving on the AODR Film Festival Short Film Jury.

Alongside the relevant and shareable written, graphic and video content I’ve created for a host of outlets (see section below for highlights), I’ve also been featured on CTV’s PopLife, CityTV’s Breakfast Television, and as a one-time champion on Jeopardy!

I have also developed and executed fully integrated social strategies (paid and organic) and content across a number of sites, microsites, and platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Threads, BlueSky, Letterboxd, Spotify, and YouTube. I’m incredibly proud of the rapport I've developed with followers, which has allowed for valuable, genuine, organic opportunities.

I’ve been the creative lead on several creative shoots, live streaming, and recordings for various platforms, including broadcast, podcasting, radio, print, and online, while also producing specialty content for cinematic in-theatre broadcasts (i.e. NT Live and TimePlay).

I have curated and continue to maintain incredibly positive relationships with studio, PR and agency contacts throughout Canada and the US.
