Baruchel, Ferrera and director DeBlois on Dragons, Vikings and sequels

It’s been five years since we last laid eyes on Hiccup, Astrid, Toothless and the rest of the merry band of Vikings and Dragons in Berk. Our hero and his trusty sidekick have spent the years exploring outside their borders and mapping all they come across. But what happens when one day Hiccup encounters something (or someone) he never expected to find? And can he, along with his kick-ass, Dragon-racing partner Astrid, stop a new evil from tearing apart the peace they worked so hard to forge? I guess you’ll just have to wait and find out when How to Train Your Dragon 2 hits theatres this Friday.

In the meantime, we sat down with two of the stars of the big animated sequel fresh from their red carpet premiere at Cannes, Jay Baruchel (Hiccup) and America Ferrera (Astrid), along with Canadian writer and director Dean DeBlois, to find out just what challenges our favourite characters will face this time around, why Astrid might be the actual star of the show, and just where they’d all fly off to if they had their very own Toothless.

Watch the interview now.

How to Train Your Dragon 2 flies into theatres June 13.
